On Saturday, August 15, SOH’s 3rd digital literacy cohort culminated and shared their digital content creations with a caring, loving, and supportive audience. The College I Can digital literacy program aims to create digital leaders and civic journalist who are inspired to change their community through a variety of learning and engagement activities.
The program is facilitated by Dr. Shani Byard and her Message Media Education team along with BBC, NPR, and KPCC Journalist, Chris Nsiah. Students interviewed Dr. Priscilla Reed of Mothers Against Judicial Injustice and private practice attorney, Leslie Ivie, JD about criminal justice issues related to law enforcement discrimination, court room disparities, and social justice movements. Dr. D’Artagnan Scorza, Inglewood School Board Member and Executive Director of Social Justice Learning Institute closed the ceremonies with a motivational speech about “transformation”.
