The Thinking Lives Matter Lecture Series is a partnership between Sanctuary of Hope and the Mervyn M. Dymally African American Political & Economic Institute at California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH). The series engages youth and young adults in critical thinking, anti-racist education, self-awareness, and leadership development.
Each cohort participates in weekly lectures, guided dialogue, and reflective learning designed to strengthen their understanding of culture, identity, equity, and social change over 8 weeks on Wednesdays from, 5 – 8 pm on the CSUDH campus. Fellows build confidence, deepen their analytical skills, and gain knowledge that supports their academic, personal, and civic growth.

Who Participates
The lecture series is open to youth and young adults, ages 18–25, who are interested in developing stronger thinking skills, cultural awareness, and leadership abilities.

Participants leave with a deeper understanding of themselves and the world, along with practical skills to support their educational and career pathways.
Our Partnership
This collaborative effort with the Dymally Institute, under the leadership of Dr. Anthony Samad, brings culturally relevant scholarship and thought leadership to each cohort experience.
Interested applicants should send an email to rhea.lambey@thesoh.org. Cohorts of 15 are selected each fall and spring semester. Upon completion, SOH Thinking Lives Matter scholars receive a $2,500 fellowship stipend.
