From July 20 – August 4, SOH is taking 10 young leaders on a Freedom Ride to southern states to understand the impact of the Civil Rights Movement on politics, education, health, and housing. They will visit historical sites, meet with activists and other legacy members of the movement, and participate in two community service events. Prior to the trip, the Freedom Ride Fellows will complete 5 leadership workshops centered on book readings and team bonding activities. Each fellow will receive a $2,500 stipend and engage the public in a report back to share what they learned and how the trip will affect their future advocacy.
