Our young adult foster care and homeless youth leaders were in Sacramento learning about policy and advocacy at the Take Action Conference. Our youth delegation met with Senator Holly Mitchel and Assemblyman Mike Gipson. They got a chance to learn about new legislation (AB1840) proposed by Gipson to give homeless and foster youth priority for paid state internship jobs. For recreation, they also had a chance to tour Allensworth State Historic Park, the only California town to be founded, financed and governed by African Americans.
