Sanctuary of Hope is hosting two events May 18, an Open House and Interfaith Prayer Vigil to commemorate Foster Care Awareness Month. SOH’s work with young people and families is to prevent child welfare involvement by strengthening households with the tools to succeed and by assisting child welfare impacted young people with stabilization services when they find themselves in a crisis.

We invite you to visit or meet with the staff at the Hope Connections Center in Hawthorne that primarily serves the South Bay region (Inglewood, Hawthorne, Gardena, Carson, Lawndale, and Harbor City). Visitors will learn about services and resources such as, life coaching, counseling and therapy, prevention and eviction assistance, housing, education and employment support, and more. Additionally, visitors can meet our co-located partner Los Angeles County Office of Education who assist young people and families who are experiencing housing instability in the South Bay SPA 8 region’s educational system.

To close the day, join SOH for an interfaith, multi-generational, prayer vigil at McCarty Memorial Christian Church. The prayer vigil will include guest speakers, testimonies, songs, and prayer. In multi-faith and multi-spiritual traditions, we will pray for our young people, families, caregivers and resource families, communities, and systems impacted by child welfare and juvenile justice as well as recognize the importance of mental wellness and wellbeing.
