On June 2, 2016, the Crenshaw Chamber of Commerce honored Sanctuary of Hope with the 2016 Business of the Year Award for our work with Transition Age Youth in South Los Angeles. Over 200 guests and supporters of the Crenshaw Chamber attended the 83rd Anniversary Awards Gala at the USC Radisson. Actress and former Price Is Right “Barker’s Beauty” Kathleen JoAnn Bradley was the Mistress of Ceremonies.
Other dignitaries included Los Angeles City Council President, Herb Wesson; City Council District 8, Marqueece Harris-Dawson; and City Council District 9, Curren Price; former NFL player, Ron Brown.
SOH’s Executive Director Janet Denise Kelly expressed gratitude to the Chamber for their interest and thanked Chamber President, Armen Ross for his unwavering support of SOH’s youth. Kelly said that over 2,000 youth in South Los Angeles face housing insecurities and caring adults have a huge impact on their success.
Part of the proceeds from the event will go to support Sanctuary of Hope and another honoree, Holman CDC’s Beyond the Battle Field program for veteran women.
