The best Christmas gift ever is housing. Tianna received the keys to her new home after two years of homelessness with her daughter and struggling to attend community college.
Tianna had this to say, “I have had a hard two years. I don’t know what to say. I didn’t know where my baby and I would sleep or be welcomed to sleep. I didn’t know where my meals where going to come from. Going to school is hard. I know God is real. I’ve been patient. The wait has not been without trouble. I think I am going to cry all day when I get into my apartment. I am just thankful to finally have a home for my baby and me.”
Strong collaboration and partnerships through Adult and Youth Coordinated Entry System made Tianna’s holiday gift of home happen right before Christmas. Coalition for Responsible Community Development provided a Section 8 Voucher and a permanent supportive housing unit through their inventory of housing units and Sanctuary of Hope assisted with the Security Deposit through the Rapid Rehousing program as well as other basic need supports.
Tianna no longer has to the face the uncertainty of knowing where she and her daughter will sleep or eat everyday because housing closed the door on her instability.
