In December, SOH started accepting referrals for its new Hope Place Independent Living Program. Hope Place is an independent living program for homeless former foster youth, ages 18-21, who have aged out of the child welfare system.
SOH master leases 3 two-bedroom units comprised of 6 beds in the Crenshaw/Slauson South LA from Long Beach Affordable Housing Coalition. Former foster youth have their individual private room with storage and share common areas such as the bathrooms, living room, and kitchen areas. Youth receive life coaching, life skills training, education and career planning, and personal development resources to improve their quality of life and to prepare them for a transition to permanent housing.
Former foster youth can reside in Hope Place up to their 21st birthday depending on the time of their entry.
We are excited about this new expansion and opportunity to provide additional housing resources in South Los Angeles.
