Two weeks ago, Governor Newsom signed the 2022-2023 state budget, which included an additional year of Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention prgram (HHAP) funding at $1 billion for 2023-2024. This includes a 10% youth set-aside, resulting in an additional $100 million for youth experiencing homelessness in California. This budget did not include the ask for ongoing permanent youth set-aside funding. However, the 2023-2024 year will bring more and new resources for young people experiencing a housing crisis and for prevention too.

HHAP funds support SOH’s Problem-Solving and Access Center.  It is an important funding source that addresses prevention and provides the greatest flexibility to address all aspects of a young person’s housing crisis.
