Sanctuary of Hope is excited to announce an opportunity for some young leaders to join our Destinations Program trip to Carolina, Puerto Rico, October 11-17, 2026.
Participants will attend the 36th Annual Conference for Counseling and Treating People of Color: An International Perspective, where this year’s theme is “Healing Our Communities in Solidarity.” SOH youth leaders, along with previous participants and documentarians, will help support conference coordination, workshop facilitation, speaker engagement, and a featured SOH youth empowerment presentation.
Following the conference, participants will engage in a cultural immersion experience focused on place-based leadership, Taíno history and Indigenous culture, and Puerto Rico’s territorial status.

Who Should Apply?
We are seeking young action leaders and scholars who:
- Are committed to learning, leadership, and representing SOH
- Can fully participate in all preparation sessions, assignments, and travel requirements
- Are available for the entire travel period (October 11-17, 2026)
- Possess the required travel documentation
- Are willing to engage in all pre-trip and post-trip activities

Interest Form Deadline: August 23, 2026, at 5:00 PM PST
Please note that no applications will be reviewed after the deadline. Full completion of the interest form is required for consideration. Selected applicants should be prepared to participate in mandatory preparation sessions and assignments leading up to the trip.
Interviews will begin on August 24, 2026.
