Never underestimate the power of emotional support. Emotional support can be the catalyst to help young adults achieve their aspirations as in the case of “Jackie” who is thriving because of a strong support system.
Jackie, a former foster youth, found herself struggling with frequent episodic bouts of homelessness and relied on support from organizations in her circle, such as Vista Del Mar and Coalition for Responsible Community Development to assist her with resolving her housing insecurity. SOH’s Life Coach, Myson, provided the emotional support to assist Jackie with securing an apartment with the Section 8 Voucher she received along with employment resources, food cards, and mending a relationship with her mother.
Jackie’s outlook on life is very bright. She is working full-time and concentrating her efforts on finishing school. Jackie remains positive and shares these words of wisdom, “Count your blessings not your problems.”
